More important than most people expect. People choose their therapist largely because the photo gives them a sense of who you are. Don’t skip it or use a phone selfie.

Get an NPI number

Only necessary if you’re classifying your business as an LLC or S-Corp. Many therapists use their Social Security number until income justifies the business structure change.

Set your fee

Start lower to build a client base, then raise once you have steady referrals. Research what comparable therapists charge in your area and position yourself within that range based on experience and specialization.

Create a website

Hiring someone is expensive but saves time. DIY options are increasingly accessible. Either way, your website is your primary marketing tool — don’t treat it as an afterthought.

Set up Google My Business
